CastSetRoll

Terms of service

Version 2026-10-11-draft

The short version

CastSetRoll is a place to post casting briefs, apply to them, agree terms and keep a record of what was agreed. We connect people. We don't employ anyone, we don't choose who gets booked, and we never hold your money.

Everything below says the same thing more carefully, because when something goes wrong the careful version is the one that matters.

Who we are

CastSetRoll is a platform for Singapore's commercial production industry, currently in a private pilot. In these terms, “we” and “CastSetRoll” mean CastSetRoll; “you” means the person using it.

Questions about these terms: [contact email to be added].

Who may use CastSetRoll

You must be 18 or over. You confirm this when you create an account, and we may close an account if that turns out not to be true.

You give us accurate information about yourself and keep it current. A profile is a professional record other people make decisions from. Photos that are years out of date, or credits that aren't yours, waste everybody's time and may get your account closed.

One account per person. You're responsible for anything done through yours, so keep your sign-in link to yourself.

What CastSetRoll is not

We are not an employment agency, a talent agency or a manager. We don't represent anyone, we don't put anyone forward, we don't negotiate on anyone's behalf, and we take no commission or finder's fee from any booking.

We are not a party to the agreement between a freelancer and a production company. When a booking is accepted on CastSetRoll, the contract is between those two. We record what they agreed, nothing more.

We do not handle payment. Money moves directly between the production company and the freelancer, by bank transfer or PayNow, exactly as it does today. An invoice raised on CastSetRoll is a document and a record; marking it paid is a note that somebody has made, not a payment we have processed or verified.

Posting a brief

If you post a brief you confirm you're genuinely casting the job described, and that you're entitled to cast it, whether on your own behalf or for a production company you work with.

Every role must state what it pays. A brief cannot be published without a rate, and that is deliberate: it's the single thing this industry most often leaves out.

Don't use a brief to collect photos or personal details for any purpose other than casting the job it describes. Don't ask applicants for money, for nudity, or for anything you wouldn't ask for on a professional set.

You're responsible for what your brief says, including any requirement it states about who can play a role.

Applying for work

Applying shares a snapshot of your profile with the company that posted the brief: your photos, your details and your credits as they stood at that moment. That is the whole point of applying, and it can't be taken back once sent, though you can withdraw the application itself.

A self-tape you send stays yours. The company that asked for it may view it, download it and show it to their client as part of casting that job. They may not use it in anything that is published, broadcast or advertised.

Bookings and cancellations

An offer accepted on CastSetRoll records agreed terms: the rate, the dates, how the work may be used, and anything else written into it. Both sides can see exactly what was agreed and when.

Shoots move and shoots get cancelled. CastSetRoll records that too, including who changed it and when, but what either side owes the other when a job falls through is between them and whatever they agreed. We don't arbitrate it.

Your content

Your photos, videos and words stay yours. You give us permission to store them and to show them to the people you've chosen to show them to (a producer whose brief you applied to, a client looking at a shortlist you're on) and nothing wider.

We don't use your photos to advertise CastSetRoll without asking you first, separately, in a way you can say no to.

A public profile page is public: anyone with the address can see it. You choose whether to publish, you can unpublish at any time, and an unpublished profile is visible only to you.

Behaving decently

Messaging only opens once an application exists, so nobody can be contacted out of the blue. Use it for the job.

Don't harass anyone, don't misrepresent who you are, don't scrape or bulk-download other people's profiles, and don't try to get at parts of CastSetRoll you haven't been given access to.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms. If we do, we'll say why, and you can still download your data.

Leaving

You can delete your account whenever you like, and take your data with you first.

Some things outlast the account, because other people's records depend on them: a booking that happened, an invoice that was issued. We keep those as a record of what was agreed, not as a profile of you.

While we're in pilot

CastSetRoll is early. Things will break, change shape, or disappear. We'll tell you before anything changes that affects a job you're already on.

CastSetRoll is free for talent and artists: joining, your profile and applying. We take no cut of what you earn. Production companies will pay for CastSetRoll after the pilot, and we'll agree that with the first companies using it rather than announcing it at them. Nobody is charged anything without being told first.

When something goes wrong

We do our best to keep CastSetRoll running and your data safe, but we can't promise it will never be unavailable or never lose anything. Keep your own copies of work that matters to you.

We aren't responsible for what other people do: whether a job is real, whether someone turns up, whether a production company pays. We give you a record of what was agreed, which is a genuinely useful thing to have in a dispute, and it is not the same as a guarantee.

If anything in these terms is found not to hold, the rest still does.

Changes, and which law applies

If we change these terms meaningfully, we'll tell you and ask you to agree again before you carry on using CastSetRoll.

These terms are governed by the laws of Singapore.
